“Unresolved Territorial Issues In Tigray Could Lead To Resumption Of Conflict”: US Intelligence Report | The Reporter | Latest Ethiopian News Today

An annual Threat Assessment Report released by the US Intelligence Community warns that territorial disputes could rekindle fighting in Tigray.
“Ethiopia is undergoing multiple, simultaneous internal conflicts, heightening interethnic tension and the risk of atrocities against civilians,” it reads.
The statement acknowledges the conflict in the Amhara region before alluding to ongoing tensions between the federal government and the TPLF and Tigray Interim Administration over territory claims in Ethiopia’s north.
“While the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement in November 2022 between the Ethiopian Government and the Tigrayans ended a two-year war, unresolved territorial issues could lead to a resumption of conflict,” reads the report.
