A statement from the EU and G7 today emphasized resource mobilization for disarmament and rehabilitation efforts in Tigray as one of the “serious challenges [that] remain to be addressed” by the federal government and Tigray Interim Administration.
The collective statement from the missions of Canada, EU, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK, and US in Addis Ababa urges federal and Tigray authorities to ensure a lasting peace through the implementation of the Pretoria agreement.
The statement noted progress in the resumption of basic services and establishment of the interim administration.
“We recognize the urgency of addressing the needs of those affected by the conflict, including through reconstruction. We welcome the initiation of political dialogue in accordance with provisions of the CoHA to resolve outstanding issues critical to the orderly, secure and voluntary return of IDPs,” it reads.
